To the world it might just be fabric stitched together but to the person who receives it, it's just so much more! It may be a blanket that comforts a child after a long day, a quilt that wraps a loved one in warmth, or the treasured keepsake that quietly carries stories from one genertion to the next. Every stitch is a reminder that love does not  have to be spoken- it can be sewn, shared and cherished. The greatest handmade treasures are those that are remembered for the love that is woven into every one. 

To finalize this heirloom quilt with Linda, you are encouraged to send clothing or fabric scraps to her. She will personally select a backing fabric that perfectly coordinates with the fabrics that you have provided. If you have a specific  color, she can work with you to provide that color.

Since the overall design requires a total of 323 - 4" cuts, you can send several clothing items. Just to give an idea of what is needed, a men's shirt will yield approximately 40 squares while a ladies dress (short length) will yield about 40-45 - 4" squares. You will need to send enough clothing items to make 323 - 4" squares - about 8 items of clothing. If there is not enough fabric provided by you, Linda will select a solid color that coordinates with the prints that are sent. If you have other ideas, make her aware of your needs. Any questions? The Boho Quilt is a bold and vibrant patchwork quilt made with fabrics from the Kaffe Fassett Collective by Free Spirit Designs. The design is built from a variety of warm colorway fabrics cut in vertical strips to create squares of hot pinks, oranges, reds and pops of aqua drawing the eye along the top.

The quilting is done by Kay Allison using a free motion technique to add decorative texture throughout, helping the busy and exciting colorwork feel dynamic rather than flat. The quilt is finished with a rich, coordinating maroon border that frames the patchwork and pulls the overall palette together. The back is a purple color, that blends seamlessly with the front.

I remember sitting with my grandmother and helping her cut out what seemed like thousands of little squares for her to make her latest quilt. She made each of her grandchildren a quilt and she had quite a few! I thought of her tiny little fingers sewing every stitch by hand as I designed my version of the patchwork quilt. 

Every square tells its own story, a dress, a shirt, or a scrap from some other homemade project.

This quilt reads like a Kaffe Fasset-style "rainforest" collage built from narrow, busy strips and densely patterned blocks. The surface is dominated by vertical pieced bands that alternate between:   ...Striped/linear yardage (high contrast black-and-white with scattered color)   ...Organized Confetti Prints (small dots, speckles and mottled color bursts)   ...Bold floral and foliate motifs (softly shaded blooms and leaflike shapes)   ...Floating geometric bursts (small lattice, circle clusters, bubbble-like sprigs).

Color moves in bands across the entire quilt rather than in a single border theme. You will actively notice the acid green, chartreuse, teal, hot pink, tangerine, cobalt purple, and pops of yellow reappearing as accents across the composition. The total result is a quilt that feels layered and rhythmic.

A border of black and a black-and-white specialized mitered binding add to the composition.

The iconic large "M" in bold Ole Miss colors is surrounded by the classic red and navy blue stripes for a timeless look. Ole Miss-inspired fabrics add team pride throughout, complemented by navy and white dotted 100% cotton fabric.
